Welcome to Our New Website!
A Message from Bolder Advocacy Director, Abby Levine
As Director of the Bolder Advocacy team, I am so excited to welcome you to our new website! This new site represents the hard work of our entire team – and it represents our commitment to you, our colleagues in the nonprofit and foundation worlds, as well as our friends in academia, business, the press and the public who are interested in nonprofit advocacy.
With this new site, we hope to answer your questions and put a wealth of information at your fingertips. We’re often asked, “What is advocacy?” Well, the answer is that advocacy can encompass a whole host of activities – but what it really means is making a public case for your cause or mission. If you want to change the world (or just one corner of it), you need to reach the people in a position to help make those changes. So you might do research and public education, or you might lobby elected officials and urge people to get out and vote. Or you might do all of the above!
This new website can help, because we’ve gathered together in one place all the how-to’s you’re likely to need if you want to know what nonprofits can and can’t do in the advocacy world. And while we’ve always offered many of these resources, our new site makes them all much easier to access.
This new site is mobile-friendly and has streamlined navigation so it is easier to move around among topics. The improved search functionality will allow you to find the information you need quickly. And our new Resource Library is your one-stop shop for all of our legal—and non-legal—resources such as publications, factsheets, toolkits, and sample documents. We will also be using the Stories page to highlight advocacy and organizing activities around the country. In short, you asked for more information and fewer clicks; we’re happy to oblige!
Of course, at the same time that we’re excited to usher in the new, we’re keeping the best of the old. As always, if you don’t see what you need on our site, you can easily locate contact information for a real live person on our Technical Assistance Hotline (1-866-NP-LOBBY) or fill out our online technical assistance request form. Our address is the same: www.bolderadvocacy.org. And you can email us at advocacy@afj.org to let us know what you like, don’t like, and want more of.
Another thing that hasn’t changed? Alliance for Justice’s Bolder Advocacy team will continue to work day in and day out, across the country, to guide nonprofits and foundations through the intricacies of advocacy, to help you understand what’s allowable under the law, to build confidence, and to provide the tools to conduct effective advocacy. That’s our mission, and we’re proud of it.
Again, welcome to our new site; I know we’re going to do great things together!
