We’ve Grown!

Since its opening five years ago, Alliance for Justice’s Texas office has reached more than 850 organizations across the state, working to build their capacity to advocate on behalf of their communities. In recent months, demand for our Bolder Advocacy workshops, capacity building tools, legal guides, and technical assistance skyrocketed in the Lone Star State. In response, we have expanded our Texas-based staff and are pleased to announce the opening of our Houston office earlier this week.

AFJ’s Houston operations will be run by Senior Counsel Jen Powis, who joins our team with more than a decade of experience as a public interest attorney with a passion for supporting mission-driven organizations seeking to influence public policy. In private practice, Jen represented dozens of nonprofits seeking to advance their policy agendas. She has also worked for both local and national environmental organizations to coordinate and execute robust advocacy campaigns. We are confident that Jen’s advocacy expertise and legal knowledge will provide Houston-area organizations with the support they need to advocate legally and effectively at the Texas Legislature and beyond.
